Walk down the Britannia Slopes to the ridge edge. The park opens at 05:00, so you will have the spot to yourself as the sky begins to lighten.

Stand at the viewpoint as the sun breaks the horizon. In mid-winter the light is low and golden, casting long shadows across the river valley below.

Head to Monogram for a warm coffee. It opens at 07:30 on weekdays and 07:30 on weekends, giving you just enough time to walk back from the ridge and grab a seat before the morning rush.
Local tip
Check the route from the parking area to the viewpoint if you arrive by car. The path is steep in sections.
