Timeline
10:00
Enter the Devonian Gardens through TD Square. Arriving at opening lets you walk the indoor trails in peace, watching the tropical plants and water features without the midday rush.
10:45
Walk to the River Café for lunch. It is one of Calgary’s first locavore restaurants, situated right on the lagoon where the Bow River passes through the park. The setting is peaceful and the food focuses on local ingredients.
11:15
Stroll south to Central Memorial Park, Calgary’s oldest park. The grounds are modeled after a formal Victorian garden with geometric pathways and elaborate beds, offering a crisp, open-air contrast to the humid gardens.
Local tip
The Devonian Gardens are free, but the River Café requires a short walk from the mall entrance. Check the River Café hours if you plan to arrive later in the afternoon, as they close earlier on weekdays.
