One of the trendiest clubs in Buenos Aires with a good selection of electronic music. Tuesdays are popular among locals, with accelerated drum & bass rhythms. Thursdays are also a good option. The club is located within an old bank building, check the vault in the bottom floor.

Cafe Tortoni

Opened in 1858, one of the most traditional coffee houses in Buenos Aires. It has been restored to its original style, which dates back to 150 years ago. It was a cultural meeting point of many famous people, like Borges, Quinquela Martin, Molina Campos, among others. The hot chocolate is incredible. This cafe suffers from its popularity - people queue on the footpath and are called in two by two as in the ark to have a cup of tea or even a coca cola and leave again.

Casa Bar

Popular Recoleta bar with a fantastic international beer and liquor selection, excellent American-style bar food, DJs and live music and all international sporting events on two floors. Happy hour specials 19:00-23:00.

Confiteria London City

A London-style bar. The original building was completely destroyed by a huge fire. It was rebuilt and opened again in 1954. Good place to stop by for a coffee before continue your walk along Av. de Mayo.

This popular pub offers the best selection of tap beers in San Telmo, a huge variety of cocktails and top shelf liquors in a beautiful period location. La Puerto Rico

One of the most popular coffee shops among locals, not touristy. It has been declared a "Site of Cultural Interest" by the Government of Argentina.

Las Violetas

A lovely cafe, a bit off the beaten (tourist) path, but you can take the oldest subway line in the city, Line A, to get there. Well worth the trip.

Magdalena's Party

A social bar with an "indie" crowd in Palermo SOHO with live DJs on weekends. They serve American style brunch on weekends.

Pride Cafe

Modern decor and an outdoor seating area. Gay themed show on Thursday evenings. Open until 23:00, later on show nights.

By far the best beer in Argentina in an interesting and fun location in the heart of Palermo. They have happy hours.

Historical, pleasant bar notable -- a great place for a drink. Serves a great breakfast too.

Bar El Hipopótamo

A beautifully decorated bar and cafe that also serves food. The main meals are not so exciting so best stick to the light snacks. Very pleasant.

Bar Iberia

After cafe Tortoni, Bar Iberia is the second oldest bar in Buenos Aires. It represents an historical significance for the city, since It used to be the meeting point for the Spanish immigrants representing the 'republicans' during the civil war in Spain. In the corner in front of it, it is located Cafe Español, the meeting point for the opposite group of the republicans: those representing the Francoism. Today, Bar Iberia has been restored in a way to maintain most of its original façade.

Finisterra

Finisterra on the corner of Uriarte and Honduras in Palermo viejo (towards Santa Fe) has an incredible European ambiance with good food and lots of newspapers and magazines to read. Also try the community center across the street named "Club Eros", after the local football club, that serves great lunches and dinners for ridiculously low prices.

Classy bar and restaurant in a renovated mansion in Recoleta. Come earlier in the evening for dinner and to get a table in the gorgeous enclosed garden. Expect upmarket prices and a good DJ, but don't expect to dance. This is a place to relax with a cocktail or linger over dinner.

Sonoman Bar y Resto

Pretty hip and trendy bar with loads of Argentines dancing and drinking the night away till around 06:00 on weekends (maybe later who knows). There's a restaurant as well as an outside area, but you can smoke inside and outside, so prepare!

Zizek Urban Beats Club

Which was nominated “Best Party in Buenos Aires” by the nation’s largest newspaper, Clarín. It was established in order to showcase local talent along with international sounds and offers a platform for Argentina’s most unique and innovative DJs and musicians to showcase many different types of urban music including cumbia, hip-hop, dancehall, grime, electro, baile funk, and reggaeton. From its inception in 2006 Zizek has grown into an international phenomenon which has spawned a record label that has put out 6 albums since its SXSW appearance in March 2008.
