Timeline
14:49
Start with a warm coffee at The DAM_n Good Place. It opens at 09:00 on weekends and 08:00 on weekdays, so it is ready for you well before the golden hour begins. Grab a hot drink to keep your hands warm as you head out.
15:49
Walk down to Kopaszi dam. The path is short and leads directly to the edge of the Lágymányosi bay. Find a spot on the grass or a bench facing west. The water is calm and the sky starts to change color.
16:19
Watch the sun sink toward the WSW. The golden light lasts from 15:29 until the sun disappears at 16:19. This is the peak moment. The view of the river and the distant city skyline is clear and quiet.
17:04
After the sun sets, head to Café Ponyvaregény for a late lunch or early dinner. It is just a one-minute walk from the dam. The restaurant is open until 22:00, so you have plenty of time to eat and warm up with a proper meal.
Local tip
The wind off the Danube can be chilly even in summer. Bring a jacket. The walk from the dam to the cafes is flat and easy.
