Drive up through the forested reserve to the peak. Park and grab a coffee or a snack from the on-site cafe. The food is known to be overpriced, so keep expectations modest and enjoy the view while you eat.

Find a spot on the broad peak facing west-southwest. The large TV and radio antennas line the ridge, but they frame the view rather than block it. Watch the sun dip below the horizon as the golden light fades from the city skyline.

Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Walk down to the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. It is a 27-minute stroll from the peak. The subtropical gardens offer a quiet, shaded contrast to the exposed summit. Take a gentle walk among the plants as the evening cools.
Local tip
The cafe on the peak is open late enough for sunset, but prices are high. Consider bringing your own water and light snacks if you prefer.
Check before you go
