Pick up a gelato from Gelateria Roma. It is open until 21:00 in winter, so you have plenty of time before the light changes. Grab it to-go and head toward the river.
15:44
Walk to the Jewish Cemetery. It sits between the Doppelkirche and the North Bridge. Access the promenade along the dam for a clear view of the water as the sun begins its descent.
15:59
Stand on the dam and watch the golden light spill across the Rhine. The sun sets toward the WSW, casting a warm glow on the old town side. This is the peak moment for photography and quiet reflection.
16:44
Walk 64 minutes SSE to Villa Hammerschmidt. The grounds are open to the public, and the building itself offers a striking backdrop as dusk settles in. It serves as a secondary residence and holds historical weight.
17:14
Dinner at Canal Grande. This Italian restaurant is right at the Rhine with a wonderful view. It opens at 18:00, which fits perfectly after sunset. Prices range from €7-33.
18:29
End the night with a drink at Markusschänke. This pub is open until 01:00 on weekdays and weekends, giving you ample time to unwind after dinner.
Local tip
The walk from the cemetery to Villa Hammerschmidt is long (64 minutes). If you prefer a shorter evening, skip the villa walk and head straight to Canal Grande after sunset, or choose a restaurant closer to the Jewish Cemetery.
