Quiet Corners of the Promenade

Blackpool’s North Pier is the quietest of the three, originally built for the genteel rather than the crowds. Use the afternoon light to explore its history and the nearby dining scene before the evening rush.

Timeline

  1. 12:00

    Beach House

Start with lunch at Beach House, an upmarket but relaxed bistro offering global cuisine. It is just a short walk from the pier and opens at noon, making it the perfect first stop.

  2. 12:45

    North Pier

Walk to North Pier. Opened in 1863 for the 'genteel' classes, it remains the quietest of Blackpool’s piers. Stroll the 550-yard length to see where ships have collided and where fires were fought, enjoying the calm atmosphere away from the main tourist throngs.

  3. 13:45

    Rose & Crown

Head to the Rose & Crown for a drink. This central pub features a large outdoor seating area and serves continental-style food and drink. It is a popular spot, but the outdoor space offers a relaxed end to your walk.

Local tip

North Pier is open 24/7, but the nearby restaurants have specific closing times. Beach House closes at 22:00 on weekdays and Sundays, and the Rose & Crown closes at 23:00. Plan your timing to ensure you catch the last orders.
