Timeline

  1. 15:36

    Dutton Arms

Grab a pint and some grub at the Dutton Arms. This seafront pub is dog-friendly and offers decent food, making it a perfect pre-show wind-down. Check that you arrive before 23:00 on weekdays or 24:00 on weekends to stay within opening hours.

  2. 16:01

    Central Pier

Walk up to Central Pier. It is only an eight-minute stroll from the pub. Stand on the pier or just below it to get your bearings. The pier is close to the anchor point, so you can easily see the southern end of the lights stretching out toward Starr Gate.

  3. 16:21

    Blackpool Illuminations

Watch the sunset. At 16:21, the sun sets toward the SW, casting a final glow on the promenade. The Illuminations, stretching for six miles from Starr Gate to Bispham, begin to sparkle as the light fades. This is the moment the lights come alive against the darkening sky.

  4. 17:06

    Blackpool Pleasure Beach

End the evening with a stroll past Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Although it is a twenty-nine-minute walk from the anchor, the amusement park’s silhouette and lights provide a fun, nostalgic backdrop to finish your night. The ride sounds cool and the atmosphere is lively.

Local tip

The south-to-north direction is recommended for driving the route if you prefer not to walk the full six miles, but the tram is a cool alternative. A suggested donation of £5 per car applies if you drive.
