A quiet evening in the city’s largest nature reserve, timed for the fading light.

Best time: sunsetAbout 75 min

Timeline

  1. 17:12

    Sutton Park

Take the #66A bus or train to Sutton Coldfield and walk into Sutton Park. The park is vast, so give yourself time to find a quiet path among the heathland and wetlands before the sun goes down.

  2. 18:12

    Sutton Park

Find a spot near one of the lakes or open heath to watch the sun set toward the WSW. The golden light from 17:25 will give way to the final colors of the day at 18:12.

  3. 18:42

    Sutton Park

As it gets dark, walk back toward the Sutton Coldfield transport hub. The park closes at dusk, so you will need to head out to find evening amenities.

Local tip

The park is free but large. Wear sturdy shoes for the wetland paths and bring a light layer as temperatures drop quickly after sunset.
