Grab an ice cream from Der Eisladen. It is a short walk from the Chancellery and the shop is open until 17:00, which fits perfectly before the sun goes down. The handmade ice cream offers a sweet start to the evening.

Walk seven minutes to Großer Tiergarten. This large park is just south of the Chancellery. Spend some time here to stretch your legs and enjoy the open space before the main event. The park is a quiet green contrast to the heavy architecture nearby.

Return to the Bundeskanzleramt. You cannot go inside without an appointment, but the exterior is impressive. Stand in the plaza and look toward the southwest. At sunset, the low sun casts long shadows across the vast government complex, highlighting its scale.
16:36
Head to Zollpackhof for a drink or a light bite. It is only three minutes away from the Chancellery and stays open until midnight. It is a convenient spot to unwind after the walk and watch the city lights begin to turn on.
Local tip
The Chancellery is a working government building. You can view it from the outside, but access is restricted to those with prior appointments. The best views are from the public square facing the building.
Check before you go
- Der Eisladen is open Feb-Dec. In January, it is closed, so swap this step for a hot drink from DB Lounge (open 06:00-22:00) or Rossi (open 07:00-21:00 on weekdays).
