Walk up to St. Jørgen's Hospital. The large wooden building is one of the few preserved leprosy hospitals from the 18th century in Northern Europe. This is where Armauer Hansen discovered the bacteria that causes leprosy in 1873. The grounds offer a quiet space to reflect on the medical history before the crowds arrive.

Head to the Skansen panorama point just above the funicular lowest station. You will find an excellent view right in front of the old fire outlook, a small white wooden tower now used by one of the city's buekorps. Arrive here to catch the final moments of golden light before the sun dips below the horizon toward the southwest.

Walk down to Henrik Øl og Vinstove. It is a bar with possibly the widest selection of beer in Bergen, featuring over 40 beers on tap and a large selection of bottled beer. The atmosphere is quiet and friendly, and the bartender is extremely knowledgeable. It is a perfect spot to settle in after the cold evening air.
