Timeline
14:07
Arrive at Siljustøl Museum. The park is open to the public, so you can wander the grounds early. It is a peaceful start, far from the city centre bustle.
15:07
Check the museum hours. Admission is open from 12:00 to 16:00 in late June to late September, but in January the museum is closed. However, the mystic park remains accessible. Use this hour to find a quiet bench or spot in the garden with a view toward the west.
16:07
Watch the sun set toward the SW. The golden light starts around 14:30, giving the neo-classicist house and the surrounding trees a warm glow before the sky turns blue at 16:07.
16:52
Stay for the twilight. The contrast between the darkening park and the fading light on the house is striking. Since there are no food or drink options on site, you will need to head back toward the city centre via bus line 23 or 26 to find dinner.
Local tip
The museum is about 20 minutes by car or a southbound bus ride from the city centre. Public transport is your best bet if you do not have a car.
