Arrive at the visitor centre and pick up a programme map. The site is large, and starting early allows you to absorb the history at a respectful pace before the light changes.

  2. 15:34

Walk the grounds and view the mass graves and monuments. The open fields offer a sense of scale that is difficult to grasp from the visitor centre alone. Check the route to the main memorial mounds.

  3. 16:34

Stand in silence as the sun sets toward the SW. The fading light on the mounds provides a solemn conclusion to the visit. No specific viewing spot is marked, but the open areas near the central monuments offer the best vantage.

Local tip

The site is open Apr-Sep from 10:00-18:00 and Oct-Mar from 10:00-17:00. Ensure you arrive well before closing time if visiting in winter, as sunset occurs earlier.
