Grab a drink or a bistro snack at the Bendemeer Hotel. It is just a 10-minute walk from the landmark. Check that it is open: it serves until 23:00 on Friday and Saturday and until 21:00 on other days.

Head to the Bendemeer Rodeo area. The venue is a short drive behind the petrol station and caravan park. This is where the action is, but you will be watching from a distance.

Walk 10 minutes north to War Memorial Park. Position yourself to look south toward the rodeo grounds as the sun dips below the horizon. The light will fade quickly, so get settled early.
Local tip
The park is north of the rodeo site. Make sure you have your seating or blanket ready before the sun starts to drop.

- Verify the Bendemeer Hotel opening hours for your specific day of the week.
- The rodeo is held in March. If you are visiting in April, July or October the event may not be running, though the sunset viewing remains the same.
