Arrive at the Boonalla Aboriginal Area picnic ground. Settle in near the picnic tables and barbecue facilities. Bring your own water and any snacks or drinks, as there are no food vendors on site. The area is open, but remember no pets or fires are allowed.
17:09
Walk the 1-hour return trail toward Boonalla Cave. This moderate walk has steep inclines, so take your time. The early afternoon light is softening, and the trail offers quiet views of the traditional Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay land before the main event.

Return to the picnic ground or a clear spot in the park to watch the sunset. On 15 April, the sun sets toward the west at 17:39. The golden light begins at 17:06, so you will see the landscape transform into warm hues just before the sun dips below the horizon.
18:24
Stay for the twilight. The park remains open after sunset. Use this time to reflect on the landscape or pack up your picnic area. Leave no trace behind.
