Head to Surprise Corner viewpoint. This spot on the lower slopes of Tunnel Mountain offers a clear view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel and the Bow River as the sun breaks the horizon toward the WSW.

Walk down to The Prow for a substantial breakfast. The restaurant is open from 07:00, so it is ready to serve you immediately after your morning hike.
Local tip
The walk from the cafe to the viewpoint is steep. Wear sturdy shoes and bring layers as the morning chill lingers until the sun is fully up.
