    Mountain Chocolates

Pick up handmade chocolates from Mountain Chocolates. Since it is January, they close at 20:30, so you have plenty of time before the evening rush. The shop is just a short walk from the museum area where the gondola access begins.

  2. 15:34

    Banff Gondola Mountaintop Experience

Head to the Banff Gondola Mountaintop Experience. The gondola takes you up 698 meters to 2,281 meters. Arrive early to secure your ticket and board before the crowds gather for the sunset view. Note that the gondola is closed for one week in January for annual maintenance, so verify your specific dates are open.

  3. 17:04

    Banff Gondola Mountaintop Experience

Watch the sun set toward the WSW from the observation deck. At 17:04, the light fades, but the golden light starting around 16:07 will have already painted the Canadian Rockies in warm tones. Stay for the transition as the town lights begin to twinkle below.

  4. 18:04

    Pump and Tap Tavern

End the night at Pump and Tap Tavern. This British pub is open until 02:00, making it a perfect spot to unwind after the cold mountain air. It is a relaxed way to close out the evening with a drink.

Local tip

The gondola operates on seasonal hours and is closed for one week in January for maintenance. Always check the official schedule before you go. Mountain Chocolates closes earlier in the week (20:30) than on weekends (22:00), so plan your sweet stop accordingly.
