Timeline

  1. 15:52

    Lexington Market

Pick up a quick bite at Lexington Market. This historic food court has been operating since 1782 and offers countless stands selling produce, meat, fish, and snacks. It is open weekdays until 17:00 and Saturdays until 17:00, so you have time to eat and leave before the sun goes down.

  2. 16:17

    The Walters Art Museum

Walk from the market to The Walters Art Museum. Enter through the Charles Street entrance. The museum is free and open until 17:00 on weekdays, giving you a brief window to see the 19th-century European masterpieces on the top floor before the light changes.

  3. 16:37

    Federal Hill Park

Head to Federal Hill Park. This big hilly park is one of Baltimore's best points for picture taking, overlooking the Inner Harbor with great views of both the north and south skylines. The cannons all seem to point toward the setting sun, making it the perfect vantage point for the golden hour and sunset.

  4. 17:37

    Helmand

End the evening at Helmand. The city papers love it and locals love it even more. The decor is urbane and fairly upscale, but it is fine to wear jeans. It is open until 22:00 on weekdays, offering a perfect spot to digest your meal and the view.

Local tip

The walk from the museum to Federal Hill Park takes about 20-25 minutes. Allow enough time to reach the park before 17:00 to secure a good spot on the hill. Helmand is open until 22:00 on weekdays, so you have plenty of time to relax after the sunset.
