Pick up a kebab or pancake from Lavas Bistro / Fasali Cafe. It is a popular take-away spot run by the same people as the neighbouring Fasali Cafe. Expect a queue because locals love it, but the food is good quality and cheap.
17:13
Walk through Philharmonic Fountain Park. It is a charming park with fountains and kiosks that you pass through on the way to the boulevard. The walk takes about 17 minutes from the Alley, so this is a good place to stretch your legs and get your bearings before finding the best view.
17:33
Position yourself in Philharmonic Fountain Park looking WSW. On 15 January, the sun sets toward the WSW, making this the perfect vantage point to watch the day end. The park offers a clear line of sight away from the main crowd.
18:08
End the evening at Nakhchivan. It is a local restaurant just a short walk from the park. It is open until midnight, so you can stay for a relaxed meal to digest the sunset and the earlier snack.
Local tip
The queue at Lavas Bistro / Fasali Cafe can be long. If you want to avoid waiting, go earlier or grab something from Pizza Holiday instead, which is also nearby and open late.
