Timeline
18:15
Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes
Stroll through the National Museum of Fine Arts. With the sun still up, the galleries are bright and quiet, perfect for seeing the 650+ works without the evening rush.
19:00
Walk 12 minutes to Britannia Pub. Order a microbrewed Britannia Beer and a chicken platter. It is a popular local hangout, and arriving before the 19:30 opening ensures you get a seat before the night crowd fills the room.
19:45
Walk 33 minutes NW to the gardens of Palacio de López. This is the key moment. The building is very well lit at night, providing a stunning backdrop as the sun dips toward the WSW. The exterior is not open, but the grounds offer the best view of the illuminated executive branch headquarters against the twilight sky.
20:30
Walk 4 minutes to La Vermuteria for a nightcap. With the specific Tuesday or Thursday hours (17:00-24:00) or other days, this is the place to linger after the sunset. It is a dedicated vermouth bar, fitting the relaxed end to an evening out.
Local tip
The walk from the museum to the Palacio is long (33 mins). If you prefer a shorter evening, skip the pub and head straight from the museum to the Palacio for the sunset, then walk 4 minutes to La Vermuteria for a drink.
