Timeline

Start at Comet Coffee. It opens early, so you can claim a seat and watch the street wake up. The baristas are trained to make high-quality coffee, so order something simple and enjoy the quiet before the afternoon rush.
16:03
Walk four minutes to Nickels Arcade. This historic indoor walkway has a glass atrium ceiling that lets in natural light. Browse the shops and galleries at your own pace. It is a sheltered spot to kill time while the sun moves across the sky.
16:33
Walk five minutes to The Cube. This 15-foot glossy black sculpture sits on the plaza. Push it gently to see it spin on its axis. Arrive just before the golden light begins to fill the area, giving the black surface a warm reflection.
17:08
Head to New York Pizza Depot for a slice. It is only a four-minute walk away. The pizza is considered some of the best in town. Get a slice and eat it outside while the golden light fades into the evening.
Local tip
The Cube spins when pushed, but it is heavy. Give it a firm nudge. New York Pizza Depot gets crowded late at night on Thursdays and Saturdays, but it is quiet in the early evening.
