Timeline
12:00
Start with a beer at Hannekes Boom. This cosy, ramshackle bar sits right along the IJ waterfront. It is the perfect spot to watch the boats go by without the noise of the main tourist traps. The atmosphere is relaxed and locals hang out here.
12:40
Walk over to the Muziekgebouw aan't IJ. Even if you are not attending a concert, the modern architecture is striking against the water. If you are visiting on the second Tuesday of the month, a free concert is held at 12:30, but the space is open and impressive at any time during opening hours (Mo-Sa 12:00-18:00).
13:10
End your walk with take-out at Julia's. Located just a short walk away, this Italian spot is famous for its Penne Bolognese with a tasty vegetarian sauce. Grab a plate and find a bench by the water to finish your afternoon.
