Timeline
15:20
Pick up a 'holdkampf' pastry. The patisserie is open until 18:00, so you have plenty of time to grab a treat before the evening rush.
16:12
Walk to the Cat Cabinet. Spend some time on the first floor looking at the art and the two resident felines before the light changes.
16:40
Head to the Anne Frank House area. Position yourself to face southwest. The golden light hits the canal houses beautifully just before the sun disappears.
17:16
End your evening at De Jaren. Climb the stairs to the upper floor for a thinner crowd and a better view of where the main canals converge.
Local tip
The Anne Frank House requires tickets bought online in advance. If you do not have a ticket, you can still enjoy the exterior and the surrounding canal views for the sunset.
