Pick up a snack or a cold drink at Green Melon Warung. It is just a two minute walk from the Mini Zoo. The warung serves freshly prepared Balinese and Indonesian food, including curries and sate lilit, at reasonable prices.
17:43
Head to the Mini Zoo at the Selang Resort. It is a good place to stretch your legs and see the birds and reptiles before the walk. The zoo is open from 07:00 to 21:00.
17:58
Walk 15 minutes SE from the Mini Zoo to the Japanese Wreck beach. Find a spot on the rocks or sand that faces WSW. The sun sets in that direction in January. In April it sets W, in July WNW, and in October W, so the view is always clear.
18:43
Watch the sunset. The golden light starts about 30 minutes before the sun dips below the horizon. The sky turns orange and the sea reflects the colour.
19:28
End the evening at Wawa Wewe. It is a 16 minute walk from the Japanese Wreck. The restaurant and bar serves cocktails and local food. Check if there is live music or a Legong Dance performance if you visit on a Tuesday, Saturday, Wednesday or Friday.
Local tip
The walk from the Mini Zoo to the beach is short but the path can be uneven. Wear sturdy shoes. The beach is rocky, so watch your step near the water.
