Morning light at The Residency

Start your day at the quietest possible moment at Alice Springs’ historic government house, then grab a coffee and walk off the breakfast.

Best time: noneAbout 180 min

Timeline

  1. 10:00

    The Residency

Walk through the front door of The Residency as soon as it opens at 10:00. The morning light fills the rooms, and the lack of crowds lets you speak with the volunteers about the house’s early administrative history without waiting.

  2. 10:45

    The Goods

Walk three minutes to The Goods for a flat white. It is a small café that closes at noon on weekdays, so getting your coffee here before lunch is the only way to secure it.

  3. 11:15

    Anzac Hill

Walk eight minutes north to Anzac Hill. The short climb offers good views over the town and a bit of local history. The walk is easy and the view is clear.

The Residency is closed on Sundays until 10:00 and closes at 14:00. The Goods is closed on Sundays. If you are visiting on a weekend, swap The Goods for Bean Tree Cafe (15 minutes walk), which is open until 16:00 daily.
