Check the route for a nearby spot to grab lunch or a snack. With hundreds of thousands of visitors, options on-site may have long queues, so exploring just outside the perimeter is a smart move.

Return to the fiesta grounds to explore the exhibits and watch the afternoon launches. The event runs for nine days in the first full week of October, so the atmosphere is vibrant but manageable if you stagger your visits.

Find a quiet spot nearby to rest and reflect on the spectacle. The scale of the event is massive, having grown from just 13 balloons in 1972 to over 500 today.
Local tip
Parking costs $15 per car, but children 12 and under enter for free. If you are driving, use either the Alameda Blvd or Tramway Blvd exit off I-25 to reach the site north of Alameda Blvd and west of I-25.
