Start with a single malt at The Grill. It is just a two-minute walk from the cathedral and opens at 10:00. The bar has a huge selection of whiskies and a standing room only layout that keeps things moving.
17:25
Walk four minutes east to Union Terrace Gardens. This sunken park sits just off Union Terrace. Find a seat or a spot along the edge to watch the sky change. On 15 October the sun sets toward the WSW, casting a final warm glow over the granite buildings before dipping below the horizon at 18:05.
18:50
End the evening with pub grub at Ma Cameron's. This former coaching inn is a seven-minute walk from the gardens. It serves friendly food until midnight and stays open late enough to finish your night comfortably.
Local tip
The Grill is a standing-only bar, so come prepared to stand or take your drink to go. Union Terrace Gardens is a public space with no specific closing time, but it gets dark quickly after sunset.
